Ice makers are permitted in both carry-on and checked baggage. If you’re bringing one in your carry-on, it must be completely emptied of water before screening. Models with built-in batteries or refrigerants may be subject to additional restrictions, so check with your air carrier if you're unsure. If your device includes a lithium battery:

  • Under 100 Wh (12 V): Permitted in both carry-on and checked baggage
  • Between 100 Wh and 160 Wh: Allowed in carry-on only, with airline approval
  • Over 160 Wh: Not permitted in carry-on, allowed in checked baggage with airline approval

Ensure the battery is properly installed. Spare batteries must be individually protected to prevent short-circuiting—use original packaging, tape over terminals, or a protective case.
