CATSA on X/Twitter

CATSA’s X/Twitter accounts are another means of interacting with the organization and opportunity to learn about getting through security more quickly and easily. We look forward to sharing information and encourage visits to our website for more detailed information.

CATSA’s use of X/Twitter is intended to encourage interaction between the users of this platform and CATSA and in no way verifies nor confirms either the accuracy of user comments or their compliance with the guidelines outlined in these Terms of Use. CATSA does not endorse any of the views in comments posted by users. Comments that violate these policies may result in CATSA deleting the comment and blocking the user to prevent further inappropriate comments.

The CATSA X/Twitter accounts (@catsa_gc and @acsta_gc) are used as an alternative method to access material posted on our website.

Links to Other Websites

Occasionally, the CATSA X/Twitter account may tweet links to websites that are not the CATSA website or a Government of Canada website. These links are provided solely for the convenience of the users. CATSA is not responsible for the accuracy, currency or reliability of the content. CATSA is not responsible for the information found through these links, nor does it endorse the sites and their content.

Tweet Frequency

The number of tweets will vary. We may tweet more or less frequently than average. You should expect to receive tweets during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4pm EST/EDT. Any activity during holidays, after core hours or on weekends would likely be emergency or urgent communications that is of significant value to our followers. Otherwise, the accounts will be relatively inactive outside business hours.

Because X/Twitter servers are managed by a third party, CATSA X/Twitter updates are also subject to downtime that may be out of CATSA‘s control. As such, we accept no responsibility for the X/Twitter network becoming unresponsive or unavailable.

Following and unfollowing

At this time, CATSA will follow other Government of Canada institutions and industry organizations that we believe are relevant to the mandate of our work – specifically, security screening in an airport. This could include following the X/Twitter accounts of industry stakeholders, associations and other governmental agencies.

We will only take steps to remove or block subscribers if they do not abide by these Terms of Use. Users may also be reported to X/Twitter if they do not comply to the service provider's Terms of Use.

The appearance of a X/Twitter user as a follower of the CATSA account does not imply endorsement, nor does CATSA following any particular user.

CATSA may retweet relevant material posted by other Government of Canada X/Twitter accounts and/or other accounts determined to be relevant to our followers and of significant value. This may include cross-links, research findings, statistics and events.

Direct Messages and @replies

Feedback and interaction is encouraged. All @replies and direct messages, as well as email sent to the X/Twitter account will be read and any emerging themes or helpful suggestions will be passed to the relevant CATSA employees. While we are not able to reply to all messages, they will be reviewed individually and responded to when appropriate.

If a comment or question is of significant business value and/or requires a detail response, we may distribute the information through other channels such as our website or other social media channels. We will watch for emerging themes and helpful suggestions and look forward to this potential interaction.

Media is asked to send questions to CATSA’s spokesperson. We will not respond to media questions on X/Twitter.

CATSA cannot engage in partisan politics or answer questions that contravene our commenting policy.

As a third party service provider, X/Twitter is not bound by Government of Canada policies for web accessibility.

The Government of Canada is committed to achieving a high standard of accessibility and is working to address issues with third-party service provider platforms.
