Security Screening Wait Times

CATSA encourages all passengers to arrive at their departing airport well in advance of their flight. Many airlines advise passengers to arrive two hours in advance for domestic flights and three hours in advance for US and international flights.

Be prepared for screening - LAGS

Be prepared for screening. Please ensure that all liquids, gels and aerosols in your carry-on baggage are in containers of 100ml or less and placed in a clear, 1L resealable bag. Click here for more information about carry-on baggage requirements.

Measures taken in response to COVID-19

CATSA continues to follow necessary health and safety measures to deliver our mandate. Our priority remains the well-being of the screening officers and of those travelling through and working in Canadian airports. To that end, these health and safety measures remain in place at the checkpoint:

  • At major airports, additional hand sanitizing units are located at the checkpoints for use by the screening officers and the public.
  • Increased bin-cleaning frequency and the use of strong anti-viral cleaning products for bins and other surfaces around the checkpoint.

Face masks

Passengers are strongly recommended to wear high quality and well-fitted masks throughout their journey.

A common goal

Aviation is an essential service and CATSA’s goal is to ensure that everyone working in and travelling through airports does so as safely and securely as possible.
