I am pleased to highlight a year of strong operational performance and sustained security effectiveness at CATSA. These results reflect the close integration of strategy and service delivery across the organization.
Every day, our screening operations support the secure transportation of the travelling public. This year, our mandate was delivered in an increasingly complex and high-demand environment, marked by rising passenger volumes, underscoring the importance of operational excellence built on a foundation of security. Our ability to respond effectively is anchored in strategic direction developed within CATSA and executed through disciplined, high-performing operations.
Throughout the year, CATSA achieved solid performance in the context of rising passenger volumes and heightened security expectations. Screening operations supported over 70 million travellers across the country, with 96% of passengers waiting less than 15 minutes at Canada’s busiest airports.
CATSA made exceptional progress in modernizing pre-board screening through the deployment of CT X-ray technology, exceeding the number of units planned for rollout during the year. This transition strengthened detection capabilities, streamlined checkpoint operations, and reduced the need for passengers to divest items, contributing to smoother passenger flow and increased throughput.
Partnerships remain fundamental to CATSA’s success. Close collaboration with Transport Canada, airport authorities, airlines, and screening contractors enabled effective operational delivery, regulatory alignment, and enhanced data sharing. These relationships support better decision-making, improved coordination during peak periods, and increased transparency and accountability across the aviation system.
CATSA’s Crown corporation structure enables operational efficiency, accountability, and excellence, providing the flexibility to respond to evolving pressures and invest where it delivers the greatest impact. This approach supports consistent results, strong performance and the highest standards of aviation security.
Above all, CATSA’s performance was made possible by the dedication and professionalism of its people. I extend sincere appreciation to our employees and to the third-party screening personnel across the country who deliver security screening services every day. Their commitment, adaptability, and focus on service underscores how operational excellence, supported by a clear, strategic mandate, delivers tangible results for passengers.
